PT. Permakultur Lanskap Berkelanjutan Indonesia (Plan-B) was founded in 2017 and is a private company that actively promotes social, economic and environmental change through sustainable land and resource management. Plan-B has 18 staff with an office in Greater Jakarta, Jambi and Bogor regencies.
The Plan B has focused on promoting sustainable land use in Indonesia. The work ranges from training farmers on better management practices, helping obtain land certificates and certifying cooperatives to broad landscape and environmental impact assessments. Plan B is working with the financial sector to develop tools and strategies to enable smallholders to get access finance. The projects Plan B supported are in both Sumatra and Kalimantan. Through its networks and local NGO partners in Kalimantan and Sumatra, Plan B can mobilize teams in those regions and can support on the ground activities in those areas quickly with quality.
WHY PLAN B?
PT. Permakultur Lanskap Berkelanjutan Indonesia (Plan-B) is an institution that actively promotes social, economic and environmental change through a permaculture approach. We also have expanded recently to include sustainability advisory for supply chain activities.
The Plan-B Institute was inspired by the concept of Permaculture taken from the words of Bill Mollison and David Holmgren in 1971. Permaculture then developed into a natural resource management approach that permanently uses natural designs from the smallest level of home environment, housing landscape, village to the natural landscape. Plan-B’s approach aims to align with these views and believes sustainable development needs to be based on the values of caring for nature, caring for humans and an equitable economy. Without these values, development will be trapped in mere rhetoric that continues to sacrifice forest, biodiversity and culture.
Plan-B is based in Cimande Village, Caringin District, Bogor Regency. An agricultural landscape of one hectare that is designed to be a food forest to independently fulfil family nutrition. Plan-B also implements the independence of fulfilling drinking water, energy, waste management and home education for families. The system that we practice ourselves and successfully create economic independence which we then bring into the broader struggle in society. So that humans can live with nature and create permanent ecological sustainability.
